I thought I should also give some reading recommendations to fill up everyone’s time!
Jianghu’s Road is Curved (Genre: Historical, Romance, Comedy, Tragedy) – Just recently finished rereading this. Don’t let the light hearted tone of the first volume fool you. I cried a river. The author is sadistic. Be warned.
Dungeon Defense (Genre: Fantasy, Action, Psychological, Drama) – This is a Korean novel. I don’t know about everyone else, but I really like Korean novels. There aren’t enough of them being translated, sigh. It’s very good, though I recommend for adult audiences. Definitely nothing cute and fluffy like I normally read, or like what’s being translated here. I would say pretty much the entire cast is insane 😀 so there’s that.
The Princess Wei Yang (Genre: Drama, Tragedy, Court Politics) – A revenge story in where the MC goes back in time. Li Wei Yang is so badass and amazing. It’s not sweet and fluffy though… And there are only 20-ish chapters out ;^;
History’s Strongest Senior Brother (Genre: Fantasy, Historical, Transmigration, Action) – Only 12 chapters translated… If you don’t know this, then shame one you. If you do know this but haven’t read it, shame on you again. If you read it but didn’t like it… Please do not speak to me. Makes a mockery of xianxia/xuanhuan cliches. History’s Number 1 Founder by the same author is also really good, with 100 some chapters out 🙂
My Disciple Died Yet Again (Genre: Fantasy, Historical, Comedy, Action, Romance, Transmigration) – This is the same as History’s Strongest Senior Brother in that it mocks xianxia/xuanhuan cliches, but with a female lead and Romance tossed in. Quite amusing.
Running Away From the Hero (Genre: Fantasy, Action, Comedy) – Another Korean novel. The title honestly speaks for itself. It’s one of my absolute top novels to read.
Cultivation Chat Group (Genre: Urban Fantasy, Comedy, Action) – More mocking of cliches. The main character makes a body tempering elixir using a hot pot. A freaking hot pot. If that doesnt make you want to read it, then I have nothing left to say.
Dominion’s End (Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Supernatural) – Yu Wo is definitely one of my top, top authors. Her novels are always filled with the sort of humor that I really adore, and Dominion’s End is my favorite novel from her. It’s Zombie Apocolypse + Supernatural Powers + Genderbending Hottie MC. What else do you need, honestly? I also recommend No Hero (Vampire Butler, yes please).
I also recommend anything translated on oniichanyamete – all very cute and fluffy Japanese novels with female protagonists.
Some of my top manga –
NG Life (Genre: Comedy, Romance, Reincarnation, Tragedy, Drama) – Hilarious, and a real tear jerker. I cried so hard. This is my number one go to manga if you’re looking for something emotional.
Akatsuki no Yona (Genre: Fnatasy, Historical, Romance, Tragedy) – Same artist as NG Life. Absolutely gorgeous. Both in art and plot. I recommend it so, so, so much. Definitely a top rated manga.
Kuroshitsuji (Genre: Historical, Fantasy, Action, Tragedy, Drama, Mystery) – An absolute classic. The art is gorgeous, the story telling is beautiful, and it’s amazing in every way honestly. The anime does it no justice (are we even surprised). One hundred percent recommend. The newest arc is freaking beautiful.
Wo Jia Dashi Xiong Naozi You Keng (Genre: Fantasy, Historical, Comedy, Action) – It’s a Chinese webtoon. I think one or two chapters of the novel have been translated, but haven’t read that. It’s absolutely hilarious and beautiful.There’s definitely some hints of boy’s love, but I have no problems with yaoi in general so… but I say, do not let that deter you! For this is practically a work of art. It demolishes the fourth wall as hard as possible.
Douluo Dalu II (Genre: Fantasy, Historical, Action) – Yes everyone, it is our beloved xuanhuan, Douluo Dalu. This second one has beautiful art, which is why I recommend it over the first one (I’m a sucker for good art). I really love the setup of spirit essences and spirit rings in the series – I think it makes for great writing material.
Knights & Magic – Another novel making it’s entrance as a manga. Sadly, only three chapters out. I haven’t read the novel in a while, so I can’t really say how they compare, but I liked both. To be honest, I say I prefer the manga, simply because if the manga adaption is decent enough, I will always prefer it (sucker for seeing things in art y’all).
Anyways, I’ll leave it at that. Have a nice night, morning, or whatever and hope y’all enjoy my recommendations~
